Give your child the chance to join their #Dancefam on an exciting group theatre trip! Theatre outings are always a highlight at YRAD! It's a fantastic chance to be inspired by the performances we love, all while enjoying the experience together 💜 (and you save on buying extra tickets for family members who would otherwise need to accompany them!) Please review the notes section for specific show details and age recommendations. Students are welcome to bring their own money for drinks, snacks, programmes, etc. (Please note, many venues only accept cards, but our team/chaperones will do our best help with cash exchange where needed). We arrive 45 minutes before the show starts, as requested by theatres for large groups, so please ensure a prompt drop off. If we sell out of our tickets, feel free to book yours independently—it's a fantastic experience for your young performer!

A Cuban Twist

The classic tale of the Nutcracker gets a thrilling new take courtesy of Cuban-British ballet superstar Carlos Acosta! Reimagining Tchaikovsky's timeless score into a Cuban style with musician, composer and arranger Pepe Gavilondo, Acosta's Nutcracker is set in the vibrant city of Havana, with breathtaking traditional Cuban choreography at its core as the locals prepare for a Christmas like no other! All enhanced by stunning set design and live visuals by Nina Dunn, costume design by Angelo Alberto and lighting designed by Andrew Exeter, witness the Nutcracker like you've never seen it before.

What is the story?
One of the world's favourite holiday experiences, The Nutcracker is based on ETA Hoffman's enchanting novella of the same name. Telling the tale of Clara and the mysterious Nutcracker doll she receives from her godfather on Christmas Eve, The Nutcracker opens up a world of winter wonder - even in the warm climate of Cuba - as Clara and her doll are whisked into a fantasy realm where nothing is as it seems.

Age Guidance for the show is 8+. (We will permit students aged 7+if parents feel it's appropriate.
